MPR makes challenging projects successful, delivering safe, reliable, highly technical solutions to our clients. We support multiple industries including power generation (nuclear, coal, gas, hydroelectric, wind and solar), medical products and devices, and the Federal government (Departments of Energy, Homeland Security and Defense). In each of these industries, MPR supports a variety of clients, from small companies seeking to develop new technologies, to large organizations looking to maintain or upgrade their facilities/equipment.

    General Job Description

MPR provides top-tier engineering services by focusing on first principles and relying on a team of multi-disciplined engineers with expertise in fluid flow, thermodynamics, stress analysis, finite element analysis, vibrations, circuit design, software development and instrumentation and controls. MPR hires a wide variety of engineering disciplines and favors candidates that are highly motivated, talented, and innovative. Successful candidates see value in interesting and challenging technical work and have a desire for continuous learning. As the company continues to grow, we seek individuals with an interest in expanding their technical, leadership, and business capabilities.

    Duties/Responsibilities

Typical projects at MPR last from 2-12 months and are completed by project teams of 2-10 engineers. At any one point in time, a typical MPR engineer will be working on 2-3 projects simultaneously. Example projects include:

    • Providing an analysis and/or a specification for an upgrade to a plant/system/component
    • Specifying, procuring and testing a component or piece of equipment
    • Designing and supplying a large, complex, first-of-a-kind system
    • Designing a new medical device
    • Creating a test plan and overseeing testing of equipment in the field or at a laboratory

MPR regularly provides training opportunities – many of which occur on-the-job with senior engineers who are recognized industry-wide as experts in their fields. Some of MPR’s most interesting projects provide the opportunity to travel to client sites, test facilities or supplier’s facilities. Although employees are based out of one of our several offices, they should expect a moderate amount of travel based on the specific requirements of their projects. Expected career progression includes developing technical expertise as well as increasing responsibility for project management, supervision, client relations, and business development.

    Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an engineer with a strong working knowledge of engineering first principles who is a proficient writer, and has the ability to work both independently and with others. The candidate should also have interest in working at client or other sites as projects require. The candidate should be able to communicate and work closely with senior engineers and clients to solve problems.

Successful candidates will possess a strong academic record and be highly motivated self-starters. In addition, successful candidates will have the following skills and capabilities:

    • Strong analytical skills including the ability to problem solve
    • Aptitude to work outside of engineering discipline and quickly learn new concepts
    • Advanced computer skills preferred, including analysis programs such as MATLAB-Simulink® and design programs such as SolidWorks
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of an organization
